NIH Disease-Specific Spending

The NIH budget can be sliced & diced in many ways … by Institute or Center, by mechanism, by recipient institution, by type of funding (research, training, infrastructure, etc.). The public display of how taxpayer donations to the NIH are divvied up is by disease, condition, or medical research focus. No big surprise that most everything is flat or down slightly. A bit of good news for those seeking funding for HIV/AIDS, influenza (with & without pneumonia), malaria, nanotechnology, topical microbes, vaccine research, and, of all things, women’s health.
